"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt
"How does a kid from Coos Bay, with one leg longer than the other win races? All my life people have been telling me, ' You're to small Pre' , 'You're not fast enough Pre' , 'Give up your foolish dream Steve'. But they forget something, I Have To Win." - Steve Prefontaine
"When the going gets tough, the tough get going." -Anonymous
Story one-
Do not ever give up on your dreams. No matter what anybody says you can always do what you dream. What kind of sense would it make if you could dream of things that you could never accomplish. It may take time (a lot of time) but you can do it. If your goal is to run three miles period or to run 16 minutes for three miles then do all the work necessary and never lose confidence in yourself. If you do this I know you can accomplish anything.
I know that when I was a freshmen in High School I wanted to run 16:30 by my senior year. Guess what I ran 16:22 as a junior. I did the work necessary and listened to my best friend, my coach. I got a little excited and said hey I should run faster maybe 15's but I was wrong. After you accomplish one goal you need to sit down and really think about what your next goal should be.
Remember that confidence is the key. With confidence in yourself you can do anything as long as you do the work with it. Dedication is the number two key. Keep your head up and keep running.
